The HyperX Savage EXO external SSD launched by Kingston at $128

Kingston launched its new external SSDs called the HyperX Savage Exo which uses a USB Type-C interface. The External SSD is compatible with Microsoft’s Windows, Microsoft’s Xbox, Apple macOS, as well as Sony’s PlayStation 4 gaming consoles.

The HyperX HyperX Savage Exo External SSD is based on 3D TLC NAND flash memory which comes in two variants the 480 GB and the 960 GB. The external SSD reads up to the speed of 500 MB/s and writes at up to 480 GB. The company has not named the controller it uses for the drive but industry experts suggest that it could use the solution designed by Phison as it works very closely with them.

The company has the designed the HyperX Savage Exo external SSD very light and portable. The SSD weighs only 56 grams and measures 123.82 × 48.61 × 10.24 mm. The drive can operate at extream weather conditions from 0°C to 70°C.

The price for the 480 GB model is (SHSX100/480G) is $128 whereas the 960 GB (SHSX100/960G) variant would cost the customer $250.
